A unique theme park in the country and in Europe, Dinosaur World Transylvania, was created at the foot of the Retezat Massif, in Sibișel, Râu de Mori commune, near Hațeg. It is a grandiose project, worth millions of euros, initiated by two men from Hunedoara, who have been living in the United States for 25 years.
Why a dinosaur park at the foot of Retezat? The answer is simple. Here, millions of years ago, dinosaurs lived, being discovered in this sense fossils and eggs that attest to the presence of these creatures in the Land of Hateg.
Anyone who arrives here won't have time to get bored. It is a complex place, where you can "listen" to the silence, you can test your adrenaline or you can have fun with friends or family. Here, you can even go back in time, as a child, and bathe in one of the natural pools arranged directly in the river, and then relax in a hammock and listen to the roar of the water from the nearby waterfall.
And when hunger "hits you", nothing will be able to stop you from trying traditional delicacies, prepared only with products from the farm or from small local producers. Balmoș, beans with smoked pig trotter, traditional “padureni” pies, traditional sausages called “virsli”, cheeses, are a tiny part of the goodies that your taste buds will demand.
From riding dinosaurs to milking sheep, admiring American bison and a good night's sleep in the open air
The impressive theme park covers no less than 100 hectares. Here, in the next period, visitors will be able to travel the longest zip line in the country, admire American bison, fallow deer, donkeys and sheep, and even get involved in farm activities.
The children are welcome to ride the 22 dwarf dinosaurs, and the bravest will be able to climb the three 3.5-meter-high dinosaurs, reproduced in life size and exposed in the open air. A lot of places have been created to be explored by young and old alike.
„"We will also make the longest zip line in Romania, which we hope to have installed in a maximum of two years. There are also straw bales and lots of wooden play furniture. We also have a relaxation area with hammocks, on an island, with waterfalls, but also three natural pools where children and parents can splash as we did when we were children, created directly in the river.
We will also have pools with trout that those who cross our threshold will be able to fish and, either take it home or will be prepared by our chefs ", stated for GO Hunedoara, Florin Ianc the administrator of Dinosaur World Transylvania.
Space for tents and caravans, but also a fairytale place, with clay houses
The investor also plans to create a more exclusive area, where guests can be served breakfast in bed. Also, a space for tents and caravans will be arranged on an area of seven hectares. And those who want to celebrate their birthday with friends, outdoors, can do it inside this complex.
„"We will arrange at least five pergolas for organizing events, name days/ bithdays, but also halls for events for 500 to a thousand people. Everything will take place outdoors, and the constructions will be made of wood and stone. We will also make a clay castle and an area with clay houses painted in all colors. We also have a hot air balloon.
Gradually we will implement all the ideas to create a special place, where tourists return each time with the same enthusiasm. The program is flexible, and if someone wants to stay with us overnight, they just have to let us know in advance so that an employee can stay with them ", Florin Ianc also mentioned.
He confessed to us that the investment amounts to about 50 million euros, the money coming exclusively from the family budget.
The price of an entrance ticket is 25 lei for adults, 20 lei for children between 3 and 12 years old, while for children under three years old access is free.
